Weeping Water, Nebraska

Lorine Anne Pointer Grau was born in Weeping Water, Nebraska to Edgar Wells and Laura June Pointer on September 3, 1940.  She passed from this life into eternal life on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at her home in Littleton, Colorado.  Lorine was 82 years old at the time of her death.

Lorine was educated in Weeping Water and graduated from Weeping Water High School in May of 1958.  After graduation Lorine was employed as a secretary by Boy’s Town in Omaha, Nebraska until January of 1959 when she was employed as an administrative assistant by Ash Grove Cement Company in Louisville, Nebraska.  It was there that she met her future husband Delwin (Del) Grau and they were married in Weeping Water on May 12, 1973.  Del and Lorine celebrated their golden wedding anniversary a few weeks ago.

Lorine and Del have one daughter, Susan Estes (Scott) and one granddaughter, Ashleigh Estes.  Lorine and Del moved to many locations in Kansas, Utah, Nebraska and Colorado with Del’s employment with the Peter Kiewit Company.  After Del’s retirement in 1997 Lorine and Del enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.  Lorine’s favorite hobby was reading books.  One of her favorite treats was a bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup and Spanish peanuts (which we will have today at the reception).

Lorine is survived by her husband Delwin, daughter Susan Estes (Scott) and granddaughter Ashleigh Estes (Humberto); her brother Jerry Pointer (Dorothy) of Elmwood, Nebraska and her sister Susie Colleen Weideman of Norfolk, Nebraska.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Laura Burkard, as well as numerous cousins and friends.  Lorine was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Laura Pointer, sister-in-law Carolyn Pointer, brother-in-law Sonny Weideman and nephew Kevin Pointer.

Lorine was laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery prior to today’s service.  Following this service, you are invited to a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall in the lower level of our building.  Memorials may be directed to the Ascension Lutheran Church Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of Lorine. Services will be on June 1, 2023 at Ascension Lutheran Church in Littleton at 11 AM.
