Larry Dean Douglas

Larry Dean Douglas “Larry D”, age 62, passed away in his sleep on Saturday, February 16, 2019. His final months were spent surrounded by the comfort of his beloved family in Westminster, CO. From his birth on November 19, 1956 to his death, Larry made many a friend and lived life as a blessing from the Lord.He was born to Stan and Marilyn Douglas in Denver, CO and was the second born of four children. He spent his childhood there with his siblings; Kim, Susie, and Mike. Larry attended Belmar and Goldrick Elementary School, Kepnar Middle School, and finally graduated from Lincoln High School in 1975.After working a handful of jobs around Colorado and Wyoming, Larry settled in the Denver area where he developed the skilled trade of excavation from his father. He dug basements for Douglas Excavating Company for many years. Larry married in 1979 and they were blessed with 3 sons; Keith, Daniel (Dan), and Andrew (Drew). His boys were his pride and joy and the focus of his life as a divorced single dad.Larry suffered from a very rare form of Polycystic Kidney Disease that was detected early on in his life. This lead to many health complications throughout his life including two transplants and many years of dialysis. Despite these challenges, Larry always saw his life as a blessing from God and he exemplified that to everyone around him. He was always happy to greet anyone with a smile and a pocket full of candy.His health certainly did not hold him back from doing what he enjoyed most including: being an active church member at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, volunteer firefighting, archery, restoring a family truck, helping friends and neighbors, spoiling his daughters-in-law, and most notably loving his grandchildren!Larry is preceded in death by his father (Stan), sister (Susie), and brother (Mike) He is survived by his mother (Marilyn), sister (Kim) and husband (Jeff), Sister-in-law (Karen), uncle (Steve), and Aunt (Lavon), son (Keith) and wife (Andrea) and grandchildren (Tyler and Gage), son (Daniel) and wife (Katie) and grandchildren (Sophia, Ella, and Levi), son (Andrew) and wife (Jasmine) and grandchild (Adalyn), niece (Kelly), nephew (Jesse), niece (Evie), nephew (Alex).
