Arley David Hudson

Arley David Hudson, 74, was born February 17, 1945, at Guthrie, Oklahoma, and his great heart simply stopped on January 21, 2020, in Denver, Colorado. He was the second child of Arley Frank Hudson, Jr. and Beata Ruth Friend Hudson.David, as he was known to family and friends, was an avid football fan and bled orange for his beloved Denver Broncos. He also played football in high school, college, and later on the Navy team. David was a very big guy and was formidable as an offensive center and defensive linebacker.His college years were spent at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, before he joined the U.S. Navy. David was assigned to a radar installation on Adak Island, Alaska, and later worked in intelligence from Japan. He spent 22 years after he came home from the Navy, driving school buses for the Cherry Creek Schools. Primarily, the handicapped bus. Under his watchful eye and care, there was never a child forgotten nor left behind. He was very protective of "his kids" and would stay with a child when someone was running late.His greatest love was old cars, antiques, and hot rods. He was happiest with grease under his fingernails while taking them apart and cleaning and restoring them and was once caught with a transmission in his bathtub. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling all over the western states, meeting buddies to attend old car and hot rod rallies.David was generous and open-hearted. With his size, full white beard, and twinkling blue eyes, he played Santa Claus many years during the Christmas season. He always looked forward to being Santa and even became Santa the last time this Christmas at his retirement home, Quincy Place, to the delight of all.He is preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother-in-law, Keith Buchanan. Arley David is survived by his sister, Lyndal Buchanan, Houston, TX, and brother, Dale, and sister-in-law, Alice Hudson, of Greenwood Village, CO; his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; cousins and two beloved aunts.In keeping with his generous nature, David was a tissue donor. Memorial services are pending and the family extends our gratitude to the staff of Quincy Place, the helpers from Senior Helpers, and the professionals at DaVita Lonetree Dialysis Center who made his last years so much better.
