Sally B. Geis, PhD, 87, of Denver, died in her sleep 11/16/2015. She was born 3/20/1928 in Salina, KS, though many summers spent at Cheley Camp sealed her love of Colorado. Sally earned a BA from Stanford in Mandarin, and explored Buddhism, but her subsequent plans to work in China were thwarted by the political situation. In 1951 she married Bob Geis, at the time a Naval fighter pilot instructor. After having 2 sons, she returned to school, earned a PhD in Sociology at Denver University, and was on the faculties of Colorado Women’s College, Iliff School of Theology, and the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine. She authored and co-authored numerous academic papers and five books. A long time member of University Park United Methodist Church, Sally was a member of the UMC Judicial Council and delegate to their General Conference. She helped found Africa University and the Russia United Methodist Theological Seminary. Sally loved the mountains, music, and traveling with her family. She is survived by sons Jim (Beverly) of Golden and Raym (Linda) of Fort Collins, two grandchildren, Mera and Robby, and many special nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be scheduled for the spring. In lieu of flowers, Sally asked to send memorial contributions to The Denver Hospice, http://www.thedenverhospice.org/giving/Pages/giving.aspx
