Shirley Doidge Obituary

Shirley Ann DeJean Jenkins Doidge was born January 13, 1929 to William & Ella (Disrude) DeJean in Dunlap, IA. She passed away May 12, 2019 in Longmont, CO. She attended school in Dunlap graduating in 1947. She was active on the Girls Basketball Team. Her favorite memory is of her father and his friends teaching her to dance. Shirley’s family moved to Denver in 1948 and she followed them a few months later.She married John R Jenkins on June 4, 1949 in Wheat Ridge, CO. They celebrated 40 years of marriage before he passed away in 1989. She married Harvey Doidge May 11, 1991 in Northglenn, CO. They were married for 15 years before Harvey passed away in 2006.Shirley worked at Woolworths for 30 years before retiring in 1991. She started her career at the store in Lakeside, CO, she traveled for the company for several years helping set up various stores and training new personnel. Before retiring she returned to the Lakeside store and helped close it. She loved to play cards with her family and go to the casinos in Black Hawk.She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bill, Bob and Norman, her sisters Betty and Lavonne, her husbands, and her son John William Jenkins. She is survived by her daughter Carol (John) Dulz and Karen (Chuck) Mott. Her brother Ed DeJean (Karen) and sister-in-law Lee DeJean. Granddaughters Traci (Yvonne) Schoolcraft, Lindsey (Brad) Day, and Natassja Schiel. Grandsons Scott (Jaime) Davis and Jason (Allison) Mott. She’s also survived by 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
